I Am Not The Best Dad-Stories

In the brown cottage he decorated his wall with heads of his hunt. Besides his reading table was
the head of a large stark and in front of him was the head of a beer.

He has a stable filled with old books, old boxes filled with old issues, medals of honor and wishes that never came true.

He is a grandfather and a divorced husband broken and alone and a full time alcoholic. Sometimes his three boys would bring their family to visit. All the while he would sweep the bottles of alcohol into hiding.

On a particular visit, Aaron took his children hunting. After tracing the tracks of a stag the dad convene with Josh the eldest at a spot, he told his dad “I am having problems with my wife and my job doesn’t pay much, I want to retire”

Aaron discovered that his children are admiring his life style, a life he is regretting about every passing day and he needed to do something. He can’t help them as a leader but the least he could do was not to hurt them with his influence.

He answered ‘this tracks are fresh we must be getting close”. He played ignorant, but his son understood for his fathers irresponsibility was not news flash.

Soon, soon the victim met his prey and they found the stag. They began to chase the stag down the hill and dad being the expert hunter took one shot and brought down the stag.

As he pulled the trigger of his rifle to make that one shot he said in his mind “All I need is one shot to make this all right”. He took the shot and it was perfect, a head shot on a running target. They brought home the kill and made a barbecue of the meat.

That night Karl, his second son snuck into his room and almost caught him drinking but father was too smart.

Karl had come for advice; he asked his dad if he could accept a divorce from his wife. But surprisingly his dad didn’t answer instead he gave him a pat on the back and went to sleep after listening.

In the morning, he put them to a task. He asked them to arrange some bottles of beer and vodka beneath their water tower but they were unaware because he had peeled of the label. When they were done, he asked them to climb the water tower and view it.

From the top of the tower it spelled ‘BOTTLES OF BEER AND VODKA’

He left them there wondering, he returned shaved and in a suit, they were surprised. He told them that he is going back to the city, reclaiming his old apartment and that a security company has hired him as a security since he has military experience.

He ended his speech with “o and you can keep the cottage, I’m done here’. They were all shocked and suddenly the admiration of his life style faded away. They all returned to their homes and became contented and learnt to deal with their problems alone.
