Parables Of The Bloody Fingers
THE
POEM AND ESSAY
Parables Of Bloody Fingers
We never held butterflies
with war hands
thorns and roses, tiny blood
in strands
from pierce that made 'old
not whole
born fierce laid mildly in
cuddling hope
torn first before to see
reason mope
o creator bidding made my
'oly away
told debtor's soon bade, dime
nay
so we let dead into holes go
o' seeds sown into earth by
hoe
by branches o' hands that
hangs aloop
memories, hate o' love we
deny-coop
where did bread go without
sweet wine?
how honey lead hearts into
sour-lime
foul penny need a dearth, our
time
howl many, heed a heart or
crime
goodbye has lost kisses from
a fool
tempered tries has no room to
drool
what journey too long, tread
many scars
hats brimmed with heads
counted them far
love lost us the gift o' lust
trust tossed down into pit o'
head'crust
peace in bloody hearts, heads
war chambers
o evil wind that fans our
embers
burnt tongues had sworn never
to monger
nor tell truth or lies that
hunger
once mutter secrets and was
told wrong
ounce fewer into pits truth
was gone
homeless spirits knew to find
sheltered dome
norm less breeds brew to bind
mother's tone
sang of thorns, crave songs
of butterflies.

STRUCTURE OF THE POEM
The poem was written in
quatrains with a unique rhyming pattern with every word that ends a line
rhyming with the word that ends the next line. The poem is rich in imagery and
powerful diction and some of the literary devices used in the poem are mostly
implied. That is one of Ogba’s skill of writing, it is difficult to identify or
classify the devices as they might emerge the combination of two or more
literary device and is left for the reader to determine.
COMMENTARY:
The
parable of the bloody fingers is a typical of Ogba’s poem adorned with imagery
in its ironic twist. The poem as parable was pointedly written to show the
paths of being hurt and to hurt back another who does not have the room to
accommodate a vengeful spirit. It connotes the philosophy of ‘how beautiful
things hurt too and how the joy that other roses do not bear thorns is stolen
and tossed to fallacy, the resting truth of a second try undiscovered becomes
an old truth rather to avoid a second try destroys both the possibility and the
probability that lies in the findings not dared.
r influence makes our second try not whole hearted
line three “from pierce that make hold not whole”.
LINE 5-10
These lines capture the
interference of a bloody finger in our daily life activities.
THE
ESSAY
THE BLOODY FINGER INFLUENCE
Parables
of the bloody fingers are the teachings that experience has afforded all whom
have made choices that resulted into consequences. Those consequences might be
either positive or negative consequences as it follows and influence our next
choice of action when history brings its familiar recognizable face on the same
experience what prompted those choices. Humans are naturally shy to choices
that left a dent of pain and acquaint more repetition when it is a happy ending
semblance of event.
It is why they make a common remark as ‘once
bitten two times shy’. The rose flower is beautifully adorned with soft red
petals worn as a lady in red flowing gown but it does not only represent
beauty, it also represent caution in the ordinary application of life. The bloody
finger influence denies the beauty of a wholly second try that might take a
different path from the previously treaded one. This reflective comparison of
tender life with a rose flower that is beautifully adorned with wonderful
colors and in its imperfection has thorns that pierce our hands brings a
balance to the twin theory of life. The twin theory that brings appreciation to
every joy we feel from the sadness that follows it and brings value to the
sadness we feel from the joy that follows it.
Those
who are influence by a bloody finger do not share accord with this theory.
This
poem and little essay was inspired the day I discovered that love though very
beautiful to feel, also hurts the childhood of a first love attempt and its
dream of being a haven of a virgin’s tender and learning heart. In the thought
of having butterflies cheer in my stomach I had forgotten what I never remember
will happen in this adventure I was undertaken. You might be wondering if it
was a woman or poetry that I tie my heart to without using a rope, as love
could be offered to anything or anyone. There’s no need to wonder because your
gesture is by virtue of truth correct. Did I also mention that her beauty even
in darkness was seen? So it would seem in love’s blinded eyes; it shine so
bright and well deserved to have a poem dedicated to her as a prophet to preach
and pronounce her name but love isn’t easily return equally and I came to
realize that love is not for us to accept or to reject it is still love and is
not to be owned.
I
died a thousand times and a hundred more in pains from the heartbreak and I
died again but something beautiful happened in the nearest future that I never dreamed of. I fell in love and didn’t look back. It was how I rid my self of a
bloody finger influence of love.
Other than love death too
cause a bloody finger influence to widows and widowers but it is not a try to
choose another man or woman as it is in a broken relationship. This try of a
second time is the acceptance to live again and accept that the death of a love
one does not also mean the end of the world.
